The pair don't quite hit it off when they're introduced, but if they want to survive the summer heat--and Mariah's stifling hometown of Chilliwack, BC--they've got to keep it professional. Luckily, holiday cheer is Ellie's middle name, and she's determined to win over stubborn Mariah.

Mariah finds one bright spot in her forced second Christmas: she's reconnected with cool bartender Jax, a former classmate from her high school--and their hook-ups are hotter than Mariah ever imagined. The romance even has her opening up to Ellie--who admits to crushing on her local cottage rental host, sweet and wholesome Matt. But when Ellie and Mariah realize their lovers are cheating on them, they band together to get revenge. It's fun planning Kevin McCallister-inspired pranks against the worst of men--until Ellie and Mariah realize they're actually falling for each other amidst all the holiday hijinks.

As the ladies grow from friends to lovers and open up about the respective pain in their lives, they're aware that the film shoot is too short to get serious. And when filming wraps and new projects pull Ellie and Mariah in totally opposite directions, they’ll have to decide if their romance was simply a Christmas-in-July miracle, or the real thing.
